Who offers Valnivo Sign

Valnivo Sign is developed and offered by Valnivo Labs, based in Luxembourg. Valnivo Labs is a trade name, not a registered company.

What Valnivo Sign is

A way to send a file of any kind — a PDF, an image, a document — for signature or for receipt, and to keep a record of each step that anybody holding the file can check. The file is sealed in the sender’s browser, and what the parties sign is its fingerprint.

Sending a document is open only to the accounts on its access list; anybody a document is sent to can open and sign it. Valnivo Sign is free.

What Valnivo Sign is not

• Nothing signed here is a qualified electronic signature. The certificates in a signed copy are issued by the signer’s own device and by Valnivo Sign itself, so PDF readers report a signature that is intact but not trusted.
• It does not check who anybody is. A signature shows that whoever controlled an e-mail address at that moment signed with the key on their device.
• It does not say whether a document is valid or enforceable; that depends on the document and on the law that applies to it. Nothing here is legal advice.

What a signature here means

• For signature: you sign that you agree to that exact document.
• For receipt: you sign that you received that exact file. It says nothing about agreeing to it.
• A PDF can carry the signatures drawn on it and its own proof. Any other file is never changed by signing: its proof is the signature page that goes with it. Keep the two together; either alone does not show the other was signed.
• A signature cannot be undone. A signed document is never edited: its sender may send a correction, which the same people sign, and the earlier one then closes as replaced. Both stay checkable. A correction can be sent only while the earlier document is still kept.

Your responsibilities

• Send only documents you may share, to people whose addresses you may use for it.
• Do not use Valnivo Sign for anything unlawful, or to deceive the people you send a document to.
• Read a document before you sign it.
• Keep your e-mail account and your device safe: whoever controls them can sign in your name.
• Your keys are on your devices. Without several devices set up, a document opens only on the device it was sealed for. With them, it opens on any device you unlock with a passkey or your recovery code — and if you lose every passkey and the code, nobody, us included, can open your documents again. Download your signed copies.
• Valnivo Sign deletes a document 30 days after it was sent, signed or not, with its history and signature images; a sign-by date must fall before then. A copy you saved before carries its own proof, or has it in its signature page, and stays checkable.

Availability and changes

Valnivo Sign is being built and is offered as it is. It may change, be unavailable at times, or stop. We will try to tell you before anything that affects your documents. A signed copy you downloaded carries its own proof and can still be checked with the published checker, without Valnivo Sign.

Liability

Valnivo Labs is responsible for what it does wrong, within the limits the law allows. It is not responsible for what you or the other parties put in a document or do with it, nor for a loss caused by a lost device, a compromised e-mail account, or a service outside its control. Nothing in these terms limits a liability the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer.

Your documents

Your documents remain yours. Valnivo Labs gains no right to them, and cannot read them. It keeps each one for 30 days after it was sent, then deletes it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Luxembourg law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and may bring a claim before its courts.
